I learned about Jallianwala Bagh massacre today. Pretty fucking horrible, all told. The British Army in Punjab in 1919. Another shameful part of British colonial history. I'd never heard of it before. Not something we are told about in school.
Peterloo mural outside the People's History Museum.
The first victim of the Peterloo massacre was a two year old. One point of the mural is to say, if the same protest was to happen again today, who would the people be and what would they be fighting for?
There was a protest against the Tories by the Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People.
I enjoyed the singing of
you can stick your work assessment up your arse, you can stick your work assessment up your arrrse, you can stick your work assessment, stick your work assessment, stick your work assessment up your arse
@raretrack Fair points there, certainly some ways to go before it's turnkey. But to be fair doing it on a static site is not the easiest way to go. (I'm on a WordPress site and get most of it for little effort.)
Hot diggity, I've been listening to SomaFM Cliq Hop station for a while, but not really explored the other stations. Just tuned in to the DEF CON station and damn it's kickin'. Totally happy to be a subscriber to them.
People that take the Glasgow-Edinburgh train have developed this anarcho-communist ticket sharing economy and I love it. It's because return tickets cost literally only 10 pence more than a single, so people just buy returns and leave the other ticket at the station they arrive at.
It's fucking beautiful and more folk need tae know about it
So Swiss regulators want to turn the two largest retailers in the country from coops to capitalist companies.
They also question "whether a cooperative structure is appropriate for banking"?
Coop banks were less likely to go bust and lend more to SMEs than other banks. Coop retailers are shown to be better for customers especially under monopoly situations.
WTF is wrong with Swiss regulators?? This is making me more angry than it should... Seriously who the hell are these idiots??
@adasauce@mood owl looks more specific to uptime monitoring use case but will shoutout hugginn anyway (https://github.com/huginn/huginn) because it's cool.. you could probably use the HTTP Status Agent for this purpose.
Working for the 'experience' (From 8 years ago mind... did Apple Store employees unionize in the end?)
βMoney shouldnβt be an issue when youβre employed at Apple.β Instead, managers said, the chance to work at Apple βshould be looked at as an experience.β βYou canβt live off of experience,β said the worker interviewed
