1) Frankenstein is the Doctor, not the monster. 2) Dr. Frankenstein IS the monster. 3) Not only is Dr. Frankenstein the monster, but since the Creature could be considered the Doctor's son, it's perfectly reasonable to call him "Frankenstein".
@evie Why wouldn't they just give it a name, let it be "Open the voice of Andrew", and then have the first-time start-up routine include "Hi, I'm Andrew. I'm a trans man and I'll be your new voice."
@Incandescente@sydneyfalk ...honest to god I have never seen an "exercise explanation" part before, but I just clicked and sure enough. (Not sure it's in the mobile app, though.)
@Incandescente@sydneyfalk That makes sense, and - like Sydney says - fits in with their "just throw the information at you" style. It's just interesting that they expect you to figure it out.
I wonder why #Duolingo writes stand-alone vowels with the initial ㅇ - if a word begins with a vowel then the vowel contains ㅇ, but I'd rather learn the vowels by themselves so I can identify them when they combine with consonants.
For example, a word-initial "e" is 에, but "e" in any other context is just ㅔ, and "ne" - "n" + "e" - is ㄴ + ㅔ = 네.
Duolingo just gives you 에, without any explanation that the ㅇ isn't actually part of the vowel form.
Idle #mastodev thought: another layer of post visibility: "Only visible to logged-in users". Identical to public visibility, except that it won't show up on your profile page or through a direct link unless the person is using the web interface or another client.
(I have no idea how you'd implement this, it's just an idea to give blocking a user more weight.)
