Early Springsteen and the first U2 album, produced by the very clever Steve Lillywhite. Anyone who can put a glockenspiel in a rock album is clever.

A spinoff of your distro/DE/applications thread, for the Linux coders out there, what editor, IDE, compiler, debugger do you use?

30 years ago it would have been a newspaper or magazine, comparatively fewer choices, all with someone else controlling the narrative. Today, people control the narrative on their site but you have so many choices. You can read several accounts of an issue and get a better idea of the real truth.

One time friend/associate, Dixon Coulbourn, was a documentarian of the Austin punk scene. He made a Xerox periodical called Idletime and managed to get a press pass to gigs. Remember this was before the age of smart phones and taking pictures at gigs was verboten. Dixon was a remarkable person and passed in a tragic swimming pool accident. Through the kindness and dedication of his friends his legacy lives on. Much good viewing and reading. Enjoy.

Grant Searle's 9 chip CP/M computer. I want to build one so bad and spend many evenings toiling in Small C, Modula2 and Z80 assembler.

My song for the day. My favorite Gang of Four song. I never paid really close attention to the lyrics until I joined the Air Force. And then it was too late.

My song for the day. When this song was played at Club Foot in Austin in the early 80s, there was a mad rush to the dance floor. As the guitar intro segued into a riveting base line the mob on the dance floor flowed with it. A very danceable song and a great sound. They didn't make it big, supposedly because of the lead singer's weight in the early days of MTV. Hope we're over that now. Enjoy.

@bthall Perhaps we could help OSM with a feature to show scenic highways on their map and offer a scenic routing option. I don't think there's much we can do to influence google, they're more interested in the reverse.
