@achaela they’re numbered from a central point usually. Since the boroughs were originally different cities they have different central points. Queens uses an east-west street then numbers streets as 1st north, 2nd north, 3rd north, etc; and 1st south, 2nd south, etc. So you get two 22nd streets there.
Brooklyn does the same but doesn’t go high enough north to get a 22nd north.
Manhattan just goes north from Houston St, but has twice “348 22nd street” because streets numbers are given

@gourgou2 nah, usually they’re 22nd north of whatever and 22nd south of that same whatever

And when there’s 46 - 7 blocks - 48, it’s usually because you have some named streets in the middle there.
