Settings > Security (go to the bottom of the page)

once you've deleted your account that username can't be registered again at that instance, to prevent impersonation

The idea was pretty good but the community was terrible and creepy, and because Twitter didn't suck yet (this was what, 2010?), none of us got really invested...

Most people (straight and queer in my experience) actually think that if you're not repulsed by sex with a certain gender then you're necessarily attracted to said gender.
