This is a repost -- I deleted the original because Nataly thought she heard the ambulance, but it seems to have been a false alarm.

Is there anyone in the UK who can actually call emergency services?

An online friend of @juniper 's has apparently ODed and may not make it, although she was conscious and able to text last I knew.

Like me, Juniper has intense phone phobia, so has had to ask other people to contact emergency services -- which has been done, but it's been over an hour now and no sign of an ambulance.

Good news: I have a job offer!
Bad news: I'm too broke to take it, but if I don't, I lose my unemployment for refusing a job. It's in Rochester NY, about 4 hours away. The internet was a loose collection of spaces - mostly BBSes, web forums, journal sites etc - that were run by individuals and teams who actively moderated them. For decades. It's safe to assume someone who looks at the idea of moderated instances and acts flabbergasted is being disingenuous if they were born before like 2008.

The Internet belongs to us all and yet our names are owned/controlled by commercial entities. Isn’t it time to put an end to this ridiculous rent seeking for what are essentially rows in a database? @OpenNIC has a free/open alternative. We should mandate all browsers support it.
