@melunaka Well because Debian uses systemd, Red Hat uses systemd, Archlinux uses systemd, Ubuntu uses systemd, Qubes OS uses systemd, and almost any GNU/Linux distro that isn't anti-systemd, so it's about the "monopoly" point.
And there isn't much to do, Canonical won't do this right now, Fedora Linux is run by a multi-billion dollars company, and Debian is running the Internet so everything's fine.
But when Mark Shuttleworth says the Internet is full of negative people please don't be part of it, support him and the work of his employees, and be thankful that he managed to make such a thing.
1) some people don't want Ubuntu to have a monopoly on beginner GNU/Linux distros
2) so they trash-talk Ubuntu and praise Fedora Linux
3) a distro run by Red Hat, a billion-dollars company which develops systemd
4) companies can't have a monopoly on free software because we can fork it at any time
5) but unfortunately we can't maintain a decent community spinoff because we only installed GNU/Linux because we had time to kill, not because we're developers (see Mageia, Elementary OS)
6) so the main concern is Canonical abandoning Ubuntu desktop because we couldn't keep a decent fork anyway
@bobstechsite Talking from a Windows system it looks fairly decent, but I'll install Fedora with KDE and on my hardware (an Intel Centrino CPU and 2GB of RAM) and I'll see if the whole system freezes so often. (not sure if my English is correct)
@bobstechsite I didn't know Mandriva. Now it's Mageia and I've always considered this distro as a terrible distro.
The problem with Elementary OS is that it's heavy on ressources but why not. I've tested KDE for a week the last month (before I gave back the computer I was using) and I haven't seen any bug so maybe could you try it out.
@bobstechsite I believe Fedora to be the best foolproof distro as it has .rpm and .deb packages, even if RHEL 7 is garbage for a webserver; but I haven't been using Ubuntu since 2014.
But Elementary OS to introduce people to GNU/Linux? 🤔
Instead, quite ambitious destruction destruction Instead, an ambitious man. Quotes and more. And quotes Job is comforted with riddles; This conquest is comforted
It's all computer systems. It's all human computer But in any case it certainly doesn't look very friendly.
