@aral thanks for sharing this. Never heard of that whole drama but it was a great read. How do we make social media a better, kinder, more level-headed and more positive place?
I’m all for speaking truth to power but I don’t understand screaming your version of someone else’s reality into their face while they categorically deny it & profess support for your cause until you break them down. What I’ve seen here is nothing short of bullying. And no, it doesn’t make it right because he was on a TV show once.
Don’t @ me. Or do; I know where the block button is & mine’s wired to mew like a kitten… it’s just the cutest 🐈
Add REDIS_PASSWORD to your .env.production config and use the same password in your redis configuration, with the requirepass configuration directive.
Without a password you are a single server side request forgery vulnerability away from someone gaining shell access to your instance. SSRF vulnerabilities are not that rare that it never happens.
A black musician decided to learn more about racism and why it is the way it is, so he talking with KKK members and interviewing them in hopes of writing a book. Turns out after just hanging out with him long enough, KKK members tended to stop being members. Including three Grand Dragon's.
The full interview is a hoot, but I haven't tracked down a proper podcast yet. I need to get a copy of this guy's book, too.
and another positive vibe for my sysadmin connections out there.
Its been a busy ass federated weekend after the flood of new people. From server upgrades, to storage outages, and network schenanigans its been a WIDE range of issues that i've watched you all combat with grace and class.
Thank you for performing this service for the populace of the fediverse. You're the makers, the thinkers, and the doers that enable this wonderful place to be.
Hi Fédi ! Here's a cool thing that has happened to me a surprising amount of times: I expect something to yield crap and I avoid it and then resort to get it done and it turns out it yields gold. Just saying: avoiding things you assume will suck might be a bad idea. Punch that rainbow out of the crap-ball-looking thing. ✊🏽🌈
I am also in the closet offline for personal safety reasons - if you met me, you'd see someone who looked like a man. This is so I can live and work in my area in relative physical safety.
I'd like to hear from others in similar situations - I can't be the only one, but I'm feeling somewhat short on solidarity.
Is anyone else out there, especially in the UK and especially over the age of 25, in a similar situation?
Something about the resigned tone of this long read from the NYT made me quite teary. Almost all the events transpired before I was born and it made me think about when I first learned about climate change and how it was argued for and against. I appreciate knowing some historical context to this whole saga. It's hopeful that we are seeing economic arguments for emissions reduction (among other +'s), but I'm still feeling a little blue. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/08/01/magazine/climate-change-losing-earth.html
Excited about my new @tuxedocomputers laptop, happy with Tuxedo #Budgie 18.04 and currently setting up the #kxstudio repos on top of it for future #linuxaudio experimentation. 👌🏾
