Week 40 on mastodon: a newcomer arrives. They immediately remark at the lightning speed of the federated timeline. We all laugh derisively. We have become immune to it—adapted to it; we all read at 1000 words per second
HOW TO USE MASTODON, AN EASY GUIDE: 1. see something nice when going about your day 2. write about it 3. revel in the fact that we are all just people 4. give emotional support and validation to others who write about that nice thing they saw today
Intense, massively multi-player, AR version of the "I'm Not Touching You" with "Mom! He Just Keeps Repeating What I Say!" bonus pack. Now all I need is some VC to hire app programmers.
one time I tweeted that Charles de Gaulle airport was the worst airport in the world and the official Charles de Gaulle twitter account @ me demanding to know my 'feedback' and my feed back was "burn yr airport down and start again" they were not satisfied don't @ me CDGA
One of the best things about Mastodon is that I can talk about brand name products without their official account @'ing me saying some stupid shite like "ma'am we do not recommend using Totino's Pizza Rolls™ as a suppository"
One of the best little things about Mastodon is that we’re all in a Federation now so we get like comm badges and colored shirts and shore leave and Holodeck time and earl gray tea.
Not only the fediverse has an active core of regular users that aren't going anywhere, but it is expanded and renewed after every new user waves that keep coming from time to time. As long as instance admins keep up with it that is a really a really positive prospect for Mastodon, Pleroma and the rest of the fediverse.
Hey #Canada, any suggestions on how long I should plan to be in the city of #Whitehorse as a tourist? I have 2 half-days and 3 full days in the #Yukon, and am thinking of booking 2 half-day "nature stuff" tours.
Is just 1 full day and a few half days enough to see the city? #yxy
For all those having panickily migrated their projects from #Github to #GitLab to get away from MS: GitLab just started the process of migrating to the Google cloud (GCP). Which means it won't be available in some countries (Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria) anymore because of "legal restrictions", as #Google informed them. Hopefully none of the migrators lives in any of them: migration is running already, no access possible anymore.
I'm in ChromeOS rn, and, y'know, you can "appify" most windows by going to the top-right hamburger menu, selecting "Create Shortcut," and then, right-clicking on the new pinned shortcut in taskbar, choosing "Open as Window." (Until very recently, this process was just "Add to Shelf, but Google changed that, and ugh.)
BUT! When you're at pinafore.social, that same menu item is now called "Install Pinfore app"!! Whaaaaa?
