Now I'm curious about Ubuntu Studio. Not sure fully about the difference is between that and Xubuntu with a bunch of multimedia software installed, but I love the idea of Linux that caters to creative work.

It's cool that it works well for you! I feel like folks who are here want to be here and enjoy it, not out of some modern obligation. :)I want to have my art stuff have its own account, separate from Linux nerding, so I haven't done a lot with it on Mastodon. Was still wondering if I should use the old account on mastodon.cloud or if mastodon.art is better and worth trying to finagle an invitation. ;)

Yeah, I doubt it. Heck, I don't want to either. If I have to pay to compete against big companies for screen time, I'll lose. -

True, they aren't the same, but they have some commonalities, and I tend to look at privacy and social media as a whole subject. :) -

Why is Vero getting attention all of a sudden when Mastodon is clearly 100% the best?

Feeling a shortage of interesting nerdy open source videos and podcasts. You know, news, software, reviews, fun new stuff to try. I like Chris Were and Matt Hartley a lot. Who am I missing?

It's overkill, they're probably covering their butts for that one creepy creeper. Off to find interesting tech news... -

@kelbot Yes! It's great. I'm hoping for more e-ink options in the future too.

I used to watch Strongbad practically every day, like 12 years ago. I just found it again and it's still awesome!!

I don't think I could be having any more fun than I am today in virtualbox 🙃 . Using i3, polybar, and wal themer to play with background and color schemes.

I put Linux Mint on my desktop machine. It's super fast and fixed the problem I was having running my favorite steam game (some dumb graphics driver glitch on Ubuntu Mate). Mint was my first full time Linux distro, so it's kinda sentimental too. I gave it a nice forest background and put on the Mint-Y dark theme, and it looks so pretty!

@Nobabs27 It mostly seems like personal preference. It's not like it's hard to have your own server and toss some html files up, but neocities is a cute community and is newbie friendly. I haven't used git for any actual projects, so I hadn't looked into github or gitlab. But I hope the trend keeps on and more folks get back to html basics all over the interwebs.

Jumped on the Neocities bandwagon. HTML and CSS was my introduction to nerd land, and it is fun to get back to those roots.
Makes me want to overhaul my business web site and hand code the whole dang thing...

My Ubuntu Mate desktop has gotten glitchy, and I think I'm going to do a clean install and try Pop OS. And make a separate home partition, like responsible grown-ups do. It's a production machine, so I want it to be boring and stable, though I may leave an extra partition for my bud Manjaro.

@kelbot Yeah, I agree, that isn't great. I guess I don't have so many people in my time line, because it doesn't do that to me too often. Hopefully they'll address that one of these days.
