distributions differ a bit in how uefi-compatible their live-usb-bootloader components are, or if the kernel is 32 or 64 bit, and that might make a difference here.

one way around some of that would be to take out the hard-disk, put it in another computer, install pureos there, and then put the hard-disk back ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
