Turns out Mastodon's not bad for cooking advice! Thanks for all the suggestions. For those of you interested, it turned out my husband was going to the store for another reason so I told him to pick up some ground ginger on the way.

So how's Masto for cooking questions? Can anyone suggest a substitute for powdered ginger? I've heard nutmeg plus paprika might do in a pinch, but anyone have experience with it? #cooking #food

On Aug. 31 I had over 70,000 tweets. Today I have 17. Feels strange to be deleting what has been a huge part of my life for 9 years now, but I'm actually much healthier mentally without it.

I've seen a couple of toots suggesting that edgelords and "Truther" conspiracy nuts long planned and coordinated a shitposting campaign for today (9/11). Wouldn't it be nice if someone let us remember the people we lost without having be an opportunity to have right-wing bullshit foisted on us. 😔

I hate that too. I'm married now though so everything is now a "look, don't touch" situation!

I was going to post that (my article on the 9/11 memorial) on my public author Facebook page, but decided against it because I figured the comments would be swarmed by brain-dead idiotic "Truthers" pushing their long-discredited crap about "false flags" and controlled demolition and Larry Silverstein. So, the day will go by without me (officially) commemorating the event, because conspiracy nutters ruined it.

I visited the 9/11 memorial at Ground Zero two years ago and found it a moving and respectful tribute to those who died. Here are my thoughts:

Amazon has banned 9 books by fulsome pro-rape MRA Daryush "Roosh V" Valizadeh, and he's not too happy about it. Good to see, though they need to delete the rest of his hateful crap as well. The birdsite still loves this guy, but at least there's a little bit of movement in the right direction. Thanks @DavidFutrelle for bringing us the news.
