I'm getting emails from various quarters of the world begging me to help them on various climate change questions. I guess that's a good sign that I know something that can help people!

@hummingrain I'm cautious of the tone of media coverage of climate change. Although it's necessary to understand what's going on, most news outlets now are leaning toward an armageddon/scare narrative. There is a bigger picture. I wrote about it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W8J3Z45/

I was proud to march with my students today at the #climatestrike. Inspiring to see how energized they are...tragic that this is what it takes to get people to listen. Brave kids!

Looking at my emails tonight, I'm getting urgent messages from climate change project directors in Africa. It's kind of amazing, I'm just a nobody from Oregon by way of Nebraska...

Two climate change organizations contacted me tonight (after business hours) urgently asking me to help them with various issues tomorrow.

It will be a super busy day tomorrow, but I'm getting the impression that I have some value to add, and people are starting to see it!

In other news it began raining today, first truly rainy day in our new apartment (we moved in June), and I love the sound of it and the coolness.

I did not know this before today, but apparently women routinely get unsolicited (and creepy) offers of marriage from random accounts in the Middle East and South Asia on Facebook. I'd never heard of this phenomenon until a friend just mentioned it, and now I'm embarrassed I didn't know.

Today I landed what could be (what will probably be) the most important client of my career. And it's a climate change consulting gig. Very excited!

Just pitched my slate of proposed history talks to McMenamin's brew pubs for the coming 2019-20 season. My research on the (not really) German spy Karl Wacker, titled "Your Code Name is 'Wings,'" was among them. Hope they choose to buy that one! The McMenamin's history talks are always the highlight of my year and I'm loving being on their circuit. Not bad work for a historian, if you can get it.

Super busy day. Some great ups, a few downs, but I am positioned so much farther than I was a year ago...the conversations I had today I could never have had in September 2018. Getting closer to my dream job and dream clients. And I dare to think I'm starting to make a difference.

Well, today was my first teaching day of the year. Four classes back to back. I am exhausted.

I don't think this guy was much of a Christian. My article was actually more about the terrible 1981 faux-documentary narrated by Orson Welles, which was sort of a very tepid TV retread of Hal Linden's "Late, Great Planet Earth," which is where I suspect this nut learned his eschatology. Linden doesn't have much to do with Christianity either. No more so than those dumb "Left Behind" books.
