An interesting piece on Western social science and how its inherent confirmation bias often leads to incorrect conclusions.
It's long but read the whole thing.

I've been seeing links to the cries of children literally being held in concentration camps as if this going to move people to action.
It won't. Seeing non-white people suffer does not move white people to change anything. Sure, they cry at brunch and tell their friends IT'S SO BAD, but the result? Nothing. Most white people just don't give a shit. And the ones that act are usually racist.
It doesn't take rocket science to figure out why the US is in the state it is.
No other social group in America votes in massive numbers for thieves, sexual predators, racists and bigots like white people do. That is statistical fact.
Yeah, can hem and haw about whatever, but it is very easy to directly trace most issues in America to the policy authored by the officials white people consistency support.
I don't want to hear we need to work together, or it's all our responsibility. Because it isn't.
This keeps happening because of white people.
And before you get upset and respond with something stupid, think about what is being said.
Think about the decades white people have been voting for and supporting racists. Think about study after study that details how white people prefer harsher crimes for non-white people. Think about how white people keep putting murderous back on the street.
The facts are what they are. The inability of the US to engage with the problem is why oppression keeps happening.
Yeah, I know. You're upset and you're gonna be pissed. I get it.
But the funny part is that there is so much more anger around _talking_ about fascism than the actual occurrence itself.
And let's be real. What we are seeing 45 do to immigrant families is _why_ white people voted for him in record numbers. Across all education levels and economic backgrounds.
White people LOVE using their privilege to make people suffer. Even themselves.
That's always been the problem
This culture of telling people to 'just walk away and they'll stop' when someone is being harassed needs to cease.
I am not responsible for someone's bigotry. I am not responsible to defuse confrontations I didn't not start.
As we've seen many times today, toxic behavior is not going to go way just because you ignore it.
They're just going to harass someone else.
We need to deal with the root, not the symptom.
@squirrel @troubleMoney LOL, I'm sure you feel that way.
@squirrel @troubleMoney Ha, I'm sure you feel that way...
@squirrel Ha, again, I'm sure you feel that way.
@squirrel Ha, I'm sure you feel that way.
LOL, who talks shit from a bot account?
White people are trip, man.
@squirrel That's two. You have one more left.
Happy Monday, gorgeous fediversians.
Have you eaten yet? Did you take your meds? Do you need more water? Do you have scheduled time for yourself today?
We're gonna do what we're gonna today and everyday. Make sure you get what you need. Make it a habit. Make your wellness part of your daily routine.
It really helps.
Yo, we _need_ diversity. It's that simple. We cannot keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect thing to change.
We need women, LGBTI, Black, Brown, Native folks in the game because we need their ideas to push the community and culture forward. We need to make our spaces _more_ appealing to them because we need them. We need their insight, knowledge and experience to find solutions that elude dominant culture.
Diversity isn't a bullet point. It's literally life.
@strypey Of course I have, but in terms of inequality and how it affects people's lives, I can understand why people get emotional about it. I wouldn't call that hysterical.
You are free to speculate on whatever that is, but in my experience it's typically not any of those things. The labels you use are usually the markers of people that choose to not understand the problem.
And I don't believe in luck.
Morning, folks.
Even if you don't accomplish everything you want today, it's cool. There's always going to be something to do.
Don't be so hard on yourself. It's gonna be fine.
You really should follow @Altruest. He's weird and so pleasant. The quality of your feed improves instantly if you make him a part of it.
*grin*
Hey. I haven't my daily affirmation in a day or two because this last week has been a flaming pile of dog shit, but fear not.
It's coming back soon. You're still cool. And I still want you to be best you can possibly be.
*wildly charming and appropriate hug... if that's cool...*
@donblanco @bugpaws I'd probably just build my own thing now that the activity pub protocol is official.
Masto isn't perfect and it's still really white, but I like it here because it has the potential to be such an awesome example of cultural collaboration is we can all just _listen to each other_
In my estimation, that is the only obstacle I can see that is hindering this platform from really taking off.
I find it really disappointing at times that there is so much resistance to collaboration simply because people refuse to believe harassment is as prevalent as it is.
