@Jo That's why Pelican is superior. It supports Rst and doesn't have updates!
Oh wait.
But seriously, I found Jekyll to be too complicated for its own good, yet I still like the idea of static site.

@scruss What kind of Unix witchcraft spell is this?
So, um, I did a thing? I've just published the first version of a "new" mastodon api client, elefren: https://github.com/pwoolcoc/elefren
I say "new" because it was forked from mammut, so it's not, like, brand-new or anything. I always mostly-liked mammut, but there were a few things I didn't like, and a few big changes I wanted to make, so I forked it into it's own thing.
The first version has a few new features, a few fixes, and I have a lot more planned for the future

This article is fascinating:
The genome of the offspring of a Neanderthal mother and a Denisovan father https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-018-0455-x
While playing No Man’s Sky I've been turning my favorite screenshots from the game into classic sci fi novel covers. I've made three so far: Ascendant Eden, The Satellite Sun, and The Scavenger of Eden.
Thinking of spies and politics and culture, we had Ian Fleming and James Bond stories post war and in the sixties, LeCarre in the eighties and now I believe we're living through the Austin Powers turn of events.
I guess, this is a long-winded way of saying that history repeats itself as a farce. Or that I should critically watch the current crop of spy blockbusters so I can see into the future.
@larand I've been told offline that there's a Russian spy involved in something, but I don't know about what exactly and I'm happy with this.
@garbados Um, didn't you get the corporation-wide memo from upstairs? Now shitposts are called pooptoots.
@guerrillarain You are telling it like it is.
Fight!!!
I've made this video -- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUgE6dqIXiEsDT3DzqwXMtqndPTuMQe7D
New things that didn't work: Blackmagic Shuttle Usb 3.0(doesn't like linux), Light bar (I used wrong power supply).
New things that worked: Audacity Hum remover for removing 60Hz noise
https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Hum_Remover
Right now there are two sources of noise: 60Hz electric hum and white noise from amplifying wireless mic too much. I'm able to remove most of the white noise with standard audacity Noise Reduction filter.

@xor I've been using pyenv for a while now and now I've been annoyed with all the virtualenvs still stuck in some random .rc files.
pyenv installs different python interpreters and lets you have virtual environments for *any* version of python It's awesome.
@aquinton These eyeballs should be arranged in irregular patterns for bonus points for the people with trypophobia.
😂
I thought I was done, but now I need to redo all the video positioning, because I just feel like it.
Probably one of the saddest parts of leaving birdsite was that I’d spent a pretty decent amount of time trying to add and follow a lot more women in tech, and I miss hearing from them.
Help me balance my follows out and suggest some awesome #WomenInTech to follow (cis/trans, it’s all good). Boost this, maybe even reply with yourself, maybe we can get a good list of voices.

The experiment of capturing speaker slides using $15 HDMI capture card ended in utter failure -- the card scales down 1080p signal to composite where everything looks bad.
Here's a teardown that I've should have read before buying -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pS3FOJ5qZSA
I want to try out:
EZCap 261M, I like this particular model because it has MIC in port. http://www.ezcap.com/article_read_426.html
EZCap 261 which seems to be more popular.

These cards cost about $90 CAD.
