Students benefit most from earning their way through their studies, not by simply borrowing another student's skills and then earning their grade based on that.

It amounts to "fooling" the person evaluating the work. It has elsewhere been called "cheating".

Why I dislike using "leverage" as a verb in education:

    1) it refers to the use of borrowed assets, not earned assets, to accomplish something.

    2) it is primarily a word from business use, implying education should be "run like a business".

Pushing the season, window beside the bed open overnight. Woke up at 4:00am to find blanket on the floor. 58 degrees in the room.

Rectified the blanket arrangement, pulled it up to my chin, and slept 'till 7:30, later than usual, but cozy.

    fingerling

    /ˈfɪŋɡəlɪŋ/
    noun
    1 A salmon parr.
2 US A variety of potato having a pink, yellow, blue, or light tan skin and flesh.

    Origin
Middle English (in the sense ‘finger of a glove’): from finger + -ling.

    =========

There's a palindrome-like life cycle for salmon: egg, fry, parr (fingerling), a trip to the ocean and back to a particular stream, where it's caught and fried for breakfast with some eggs. For the complete cycle, the fish bust barely avoid being eaten by a bear.

    specie

    /ˈspiːʃiː//ˈspiːʃi/
    noun
    mass noun
Money in the form of coins rather than notes.

    Origin
Mid 16th century: from Latin, ablative of species ‘form, kind’, in the phrase in specie ‘in the actual form’.

    ==========

It is wise to note that the value of all money, whether digital bits, notes of rag paper or specie, is an agreement we make with one another. I could choose to deliver your salary in urns of salt, as was once apparently done.

What a quaint phrase: "writing letters".

I've been reading my great, great grandmother's journal. She was such a funny lady.

Of course, what else would one do but use letters transcribed as words from what I say to my dija. The thing I can't understand is why they thought the individual letters were so important for communication instead of words or sentences.

Sometimes I despair trying to understand things from the past.

Morning errands were done in sneakers
It's way too cold to entertain streakers.
Working now, I see the sun is gone,
Hidden above the clouds since dawn.

Beside me my boots are waiting.
They've gotten warm beside the grating.
Later today, they'll be on my feet
As I go outside, the snow to greet.

This year, there's been little snow
For me to joyfully shovel or blow.
But by later today the white stuff will show.
Then boots will go on, and outside I'll go.

    ternary

    adjective
    1 Composed of three parts.
1.1 Mathematics Using three as a base.

    Origin
Late Middle English: from Latin ternarius, from terni ‘three at once’.

1.1 An unpleasant or disliked old woman.
