@algernon My shell server (email, irssi, web) is a VPS on Hetzner, no problems. I have some cloud VMs as well (#ick production instance, work stuff), also no problems. Also co-rent a physical box for backups; no problems there, either.

Their storage server was a disappointment, though. Couldn't get key-based logins to work, only password based.

Rust (Cargo) seems to like the TOML file format. Rust the language seems to suffer from the cancer of the semicolon.

Nothing I can't live with.

@jamey Sometimes I suspect that large organisations really treats security as they should.

@jamey I presum you jest, but there are legit, serious sites which treat usernames as secrets. Including my bank.

(Secret username, secret password, plus mandatory 2FA.)

If you think you might be interesting to use ick for CI, is there something that's missing from the roadmap that you would absolutely need to have to even give it try?

My #ick instance now has a project that runs the ick automated test suite (unit tests, integration tests). Triggered by git server when there's changes.

New chapter has reached 4000 words. I expect to publish it by the middle of the month at the latest, though I'll be launchin my Patreon and publish it only there for the first month, and on my website for everyone after that.

Writing those tests is less pain than testing things by hand after a dist-upgrade.

About three months until #Debian 8 (jessie) normal security support ends. If you haven't already migrated from jessie, it'd be a good time to start preparing for that now.

Personally I find having configuration management (Ansible) combined with automated tests of my servers makes such migrations much less painful.

@Greg I've been happy with the Qotom U1900 PC I added a wifi adapter to, and run Debian on. Admitteedly, i'ts not standard and that I'm a conttrol freak and that I've not gotten IPv6 working yet.

New chapter is now 3493 words, up from 2861 when I started today. I deleted a few hundred words of outline, since I've strayed so far off where I thought this was going that the outline was no longer useful in way.

@jamey I'm still very new with this stuff so I haven't even read all the specs and RFCs and standards yet, so I have no opinion on those. I just need time. I curse the fact that I live on Earth and not Mars, where days are longer.
