@jamey Sounds like good things. Sounds like things we should implement in Qvisqve. :)

@jamey I seem to have a large random code in my feed URL for Ars PRO. It works without authentication with curl.

@jamey @irl This is why I use my own domain only for my own stuff and have different domain for shared stuff.
Mostly by accident though.

@jamey @irl It strikes me: you could leave your family on Google stuff and migrate your own stuff to a new domain you control?

New chapter word count 2861 words, total word count 18003. Slow progress, but progress. And therapeutic. #hackernoir

@irl I don't. I use two different password managers, and a Yubikey, plus my head and muscle memory, depending on which type of secret it is.

@technomancy pass is not the only factor.

@kindly Authy seems to be a smartphone or Chrome application. Not interested.
I don't back up sensitive data to the cloud without encryption I have control over. Data that's been locally encrypted with GnuPG I can tolereate going into the cloud. Nothing sensitive goes into my phone if I can help it.

Advice from a good friend, when I commented that I feel especially stupid and incompetet today, when I'm debugging my own code:
It's normal that the hardest to find bugs have the dumbest causes.

It seems that those who work on desktop environments and supporting software can't win. Whatever they do, there's always a large group of people shouting at them.

@algernon You bring up good points that all of us programmers should consider. Rest assuerd, however, that no permission is needed to program. There are no qualifications required. It's A-OK to program without it being a calling.
That said, it's good to have a hobby or something else that is not programming. Reading, music, movies, family, friends, etc. I occasionally do photography and fiction writing, for example.

If I ever go to #FOSDEM again, I may want to have packed lunch, snacks, and thermoses with tea and milk for myself. I hear the food vans were again so popular I wouldn't want to queue for them.
Corollary idea: get group of friends to collectively hire someone to prepare and deliver a picnic lunch.

Josif Stalin gave a speech at his parliament. Afterwards he was upset that he didn't get applauded as much as he wanted, and called the lack of applause unpatriotic and treasonous.
This story is true, except it wasn't Stalin, it was Trump.

@cwebber I've seen the shorthand authn (authentication) and authz (authorization) used. These seem simple enough and un-ambiguous, so I like them.

Identify: who are you?
Authenticate: prove who you are!
Authorize: I know who you are, here's what you're allowed to do.
(Noted for myself so I don't forget and so I use these terms correctly.)

I met today another person who claimed Telegram is a good system to use because it uses encryption. Got a little annoyed at them, because I think the Telegram encryption is a lie.

@Natouille And automated test suites are the police, and QA is a court of law?
