@tethre Yeah, I think there's some Americanisms in this. When I worked for an Australian company, "No worries" would have been way more apropos than "Always happy to help!"

@JigmeDatse Sure, I can see that. There's a difference between "let's collaborate on something," "i have a strong idea, help me improve it," and "i want to do X but I don't want you to fire me over it" or "you are being *-ist and I'll walk if you don't stop."

I think this guide is meant to get you thinking, not to be a cure-all...

@stackingstones yeah, I learned a while ago that you can't *give* someone an epiphany about themselves, and doubly so if they're not ready to learn it.

I think it's like when Bender met God and asked about how to be God right, "You have to use a light touch, like a safecracker or a pickpocket....When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."

Reminds me terribly of dealing with gay people who aren't out to themselves. They fight you tooth and nail if you even *try* to broach the topic with them.

@stackingstones I've made it clear I will email at most once a day, and that seems fine, but it hasn't reduced the pace or fervour of the arguments, which is leading to things coming apart at the seams.

and since i'm now literally at the top of the organisation (along with others), we're expected to rein things in somehow.

best idea i have is forced throttling: max X posts per day to that list? + try harder to enforce CoC

@stackingstones honestly, the worst part is dealing with autistic participants who are completely blind to their own identity as such.

i specifically excluded tweets because the problem I'm dealing with *right now* is email-list based, and i'm both on the receiving end of meltdowns as well as having my own.

it's very slow compared to "social media" but it's still ~10 emails a day, *very* strongly worded, and I suspect non-NT participants just keep escalating it.

i'm on the sidelines, but i am expected to de-escalate it.

@stackingstones How does all of this apply in a purely textual medium? In my experience, masking isn't nearly as necessary, or can be approached at a leisurely pace (because it's email/blogposts/etc.) so it's far less draining. But it can still be emotional state-blind, or conversely, emotional state-overloaded, which can lead to...challenging impulsive behaviour. Behaviour everyone regrets afterwards. Still not sure how to deal with this.
