@bobjonkman @clacke I wouldn't mind ads as much if it weren't frequently tied in with "analytics" tracking and other 3rd party nonsense. If a site hosts ads itself, offering a promo code or whatever, meh.
@purplehippo Hi reader in %COUNTRY%, it seems you use Wikipedia a lot; I think that’s great and hope you find it useful. It’s a little awkward to ask, but today we need your help. We depend on donations averaging %CURRENCY% %AVERAGE%, but fewer than 1% of readers choose to give. If you donate just %CURRENCY% %COFFEE%, you would help keep Wikipedia thriving for years. That’s right, the price of a cup of coffee is all I ask. Please take a minute to keep Wikipedia growing. Thank you. — Jimmy Wales, Wikipedia Founder Privacy disclaimer text: By submitting, you are agreeing to our donor privacy policy
@lnxw48a1 @alpacaherder @hntooter isn't that the same company that put out some statement after removing the daily stormer's site? "Prince explained in an internal email to staffers that he doesn’t think CEOs of internet companies should be in the position of policing content on their networks—he told Gizmodo he thinks that’s a job that should ultimately be left up to law enforcement if the content violates the law—but felt pushed to act because the operators of the Daily Stormer are “assholes.”" https://sealion.club/url/1484397
