@mattskala I'm also not sure, but three possibilities come to mind.
a. The connections were made before federation was disabled b. They are running some kind of white list c. There are firewall rules that allow outgoing server to server communications, but drop anything incoming.
I guess I could make an account to check it out. On the other hand, meh. If the thing is a honey-pot, then I'd rather not.
@mattskala I think they have federation completely disabled, since I get a 500 error trying to look up profiles from any instance I try from. I find the place to be quite suspicious, especially considering who their admin supposedly is:
@IndyHavoc@DrChris@mrmcmayhem Currency in the US was not truly centralized for good until 1913. All state guaranteed currencies stand on the backs of money that came out of voluntary exchanges between people. No gov't necessary.
Mediums of exchange become currency when a critical mass of people use them for that purpose. There's no hard rule on when that happens. Therefore the question "Is crypto-currency money?" has a funny answer: Yes when it is and No when it isn't. IMO
"Google Clips is smart enough to recognize great expressions, lighting and framing. So the camera captures beautiful, spontaneous images. And it gets smarter over time."
@DetectiveHyde@augustus James Corbett did a good job of laying it out back in 2013. There's also Eva Bartlett, who he just interviewed a few weeks ago.
