Is it something costly for Gargron to embed gif even if it doesn't use it with Mastodon? Just for having URLs to custom gif emoji from Pleroma users.

Tomorrow one of the tenants for the building I manage is moving out to go live with his mom and brother. The brother, despite being just under 40, has really bad dementia and got denied benefits, which is why the tenant is moving.

So a while ago I showed with Golem how Datashards (previously Magenc/Crystal) could be used so that "content could survive nodes going down". https://gitlab.com/spritely/golem/blob/master/README.org

I'm realizing that what the more interesting demo would be to show, now that we have "mutable datashards" URIs, how you can make a user profile that can also survive if a server goes down. You just point your datashards URI to a new inbox on a different server and push that update to the network!

Just a reminder that #brutaldon development has moved to https://git.carcosa.net/jmcbray/brutaldon, and that I'm porting issues over from github. There are a number of small fixes and features that would be perfect for new developers, and I'm happy to take pull requests and give encouraging constructive feedback. @cwebber wow, this is a thorough and lucid explanation of the limitations of what we have now, and exactly how ocap can address the problems. I'm sorry i can't give concrete recommendations, but this is really good to read.
