    documentation is still developer work

work for the purposes of accessibility that does not generate code is still developer work

design, mockup, and visual aid in creation of the user interface is still developer work

just because something does not fit your narrow definition of "valid" does not make it any less valid or deserving of recognition

@kaniini Will do! For what it's worth, I'm planning to document the shit out of this once I know what I'm even doing, so nobody has to go thru this horrible process again. High hopes... @gdorn @lain

@lain I'm hoping to have a Pleroma node up this week to poke at. We only work on it 2x a week at the moment, so it's slow going. @gdorn

@lain Good point re: the IRC channel. We're not to the point yet where we've set up a Pleroma or Masto instance to poke at it and examine the traffic... just been doing a lot of code reading so far. I do sense that there be dragons with federation based on the level of understanding that I've (gruelingly) arrived at over the past month or so. @gdorn

#Charlottesville prompted social media, web hosting & payment processing firms to take comprehensive steps to banish the #altright, making it nearly impossible for the movement to raise money & propagate its message. “Two years ago, Silicon Valley was our friend,” [white supremacist #RichardSpencer] says … its technologies provided the tools for his movement to grow. “When that is taken away in one swoop, it’s difficult to recover.”

I deserve to take up space, right?

Then why is it a 2+ year wait list for low income housing options?

Why will nobody even discuss **WHY** the eviction happened?

I don't need much. Just a room for my bed and a desk to write stories, software, and activism stuffs from.

I'm an introverted neurodivergent bookworm, I seriously don't take up much space at all...

folks, please, please, please (if you use Mastodon just pretend these words are formatted with emphasis) don’t compromise on your AS2 vocab usage just to make posts look nice in Mastodon right now.

you’re cheating yourselves out of richer integration with other software, like Pleroma, Plume, Read.as, Hubzilla, Friendica, Osada, and PixelFed, who will be more than happy to process your AS2 vocab correctly.

instead, ask for Mastodon to improve their support of non-Note objects.

if you send an blog post as an Article, Pleroma, Plume and Read.as can be used as a social reader. if you send it as a Note, well… it kind of sucks.

@kaniini Also eagerly awaiting this, since I'm currently trying to reverse engineer the "protocol" by reading code and (shortly) inspecting a pleroma instance as it runs. To my knowledge there is zero comprehensible documentation available anywhere. The AP spec is not comprehensible, at least not by me. @pybyte @jalcine @deadsuperhero

@jalcine at this point, I view AP as a healthy experiment that allows us to check out some long-standing pain points while discovering many new ones.

I don't exactly want to hurt the standard because I feel like it could legitimately unify many different platforms within the fediverse. But I do think our shared experiences could lead towards something that isn't completely over-engineered insanity.

@kaniini @mbajur I do think that because of all these newer projects arriving that now is a good time to sit down and discuss verbs with other implementations. Eventually pixelfed will support 2200 character captions and I would like input from other devs on what verb pixelfed should use.

hey mastodon peeps, i made a relay that is cross-compatible with the entire litepub ecosystem, and more importantly, is simpler and more robust than the mastodon reference implementation.

it only requires python3 and the usual asyncio libraries.

    check it out: https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/relay

This is the problem we need to solve as Fediverse app developers. The vast majority of people don't know or care about ActivityPub or decentralized protocols. If we want federation to become the new paradigm, we need a better answer to this question.

I've switched to not use the phrase ActivityPub as much as possible. It just doesn't resonate. Fediverse is better, but I still don't have a good sound byte to explain it to the layperson.

    hi!

please participate in my survey concerning fediverse software development.

it will help to influence how Pleroma and other fediverse project development is done in the future.

please also consider boosting this, so more people will take the survey.
