@bobjonkman Since you are in the voip world you may want to give it a spin because if i remember correctly it allows SIP integration trough Jigasi. Imagine VOIP meetings with browser collaboration.

@bobjonkman Not sure if it counts in the list, but would something like Jitsi Meet apply? Technically its also Instant Messaging although focussed on meetings. Its standalone but everyone can easily start there own instance, and its even integratable into rocket.chat.

@deutrino That is because it is different then what you are going for haha. I am trying to make your problem obsolete entirely by allowing multiple community's rather then one per instance.

@deutrino Having thought of it some more there is actually a better option for the entirety of Mastodon which i would call Circles. It would allow people to create and participate in Circles, some public some private without the Circles being bound to a single instance while they can be hosted on one.
That way they have the choice of federating only some or all circles and the circles themselves can define there own rules and state if they are public or private, and users can block them at will

@deutrino What that would require is something more specific then "Don't be a jerk". It would be a very clear guideline without any room for interpetation. One that allows any viewpoint, any open civil discussion to take place, posts of any kind even provocative but would disallow actual attacks.
For example you could make the base rule that you should not send repeated insults or threats to other users outside of your own circles, especially if its out of context.

@TwoJohnSix Was dat niet uberhaupt de conventie die was opgekocht door de VOORSTANDERS van zwartepiet? Hebben ze dan niet hunzelf geblokkeerd? :P

@agpsl @BryanLunduke Obviously you should stay, but make sure the instance fits you. There are a ton and mastodon.rocks is not essentially the best one for you (I wanted one more tolerant of free speech for example, some preffer a themed or more restrictive one).

@BryanLunduke Mastodon is confusing me, its letting me see your public profile but yet you have to somehow approve me following you. Did you specifically set that up or is that an oddity? I am having that on multiple instances including this new one i just moved to.
