That's really the only functionality I think Tumblr have that Mastodon doesn't. Though they might do them different they both have commenting, liking, and sharing, but so does Twitter and Facebook.
And yeah as @MariBari said embedded media is something Tumblr is good at. I also like the way of formatting posts.
Mastodon is more micro-blogging, like Twitter.
