Take an Atari Portfolio, make it thinner and have the screen fill the upper shell of the clamshell and you're on the right track. And the cpu can be low power in terms of horsepower as well as electricity usage. A few years old non-premium smartphone arm cpu will do. Pocket Chip production revived and this time put in a clamshell will do. Give me a command shell, more than a thumb keyboard, and network access. That's all I ask of it.

@LilFluff this seems a very feasible thing to (admittedly nonexpert) me. Something that could be done with a Pi maybe?
I would love something like this to carry around and write on... even chromebooks being too bulky to just toss in my handbag

I still want a pocket clamshell computer. Low power cpu, it could be a black and white screen (heck, a pixelly lcd screen as long as I get at least 80x25 readable characters), storage to more than just an sd card (but emmc+sd slot is acceptable), wifi, and a swappable battery. Also, physical ethernet port, none of this use a usb adapter nonsense. If I'm somewhere I can plug in, let me plug in with no more than a cable.

Me, at the blackboard: So as you can see, the English word "gym" has the Greek "gumnazo" as its root, which means "to train naked"

@InspectorCaracal not really related I once purchased a four pint bottle of milk which said "allergy warning: may contain milk". I read this and looked at the cashier...
"May contain milk? May? If it doesn't I'll be bringing it back"
It raised a laugh at least. -

@InspectorCaracal oh the original post had a division sign but it was an image and my keyboard doesn't have one and I couldn't copy or paste or be bothered to look up the shortcut to get one and used / for ÷
so it was 8 ÷ 2(2+2) in the original. I think the problem is that a lot of people assume that since there's no multiplication sign between the 2(2+2) it gets solved as part of the bracket stage.

The problem is the phrasing 2(2+2) it looks like the creator wanted the answer to be 1
so 8/2(2+2) = 8/2(4) =8/8 = 1
and I see why they think that... and I'm not 100% sure I'm right

The equation is 8/2(2+2) and people on Tumblr are arguing about if the answer is 1 or 16... and my first response was 1 but actually I think it's 16 and the person who wrote it to deliberately confuse people (and it looks like they got it wrong so more fool them)
So brackets first...
8/2(2+2) = 8/2(4) = 8/2*4
Division and multiplication are same priority so work from left to right
8/2*4 = 4*4 = 16
(1/2)

#FreeFiction Hey up, fedifriends! So yesterday I listed 2 things I wanted to write but hadn't yet & asked someone to pick one and I would try & write 250 words on it. (See prev toot)
@aldersprig picked one and I wrote a bit more than that. So I've put up it up on my ko-fi.
It's first draft and just the start but if you think a modern tech level secondary world fantasy with a magical matron (middle aged equivalent of a magical girl) protagonist sounds cool have a look.
