@feld @sowth I agree. Can't say as that I'd *crave* them in their current state, but they they're already pretty decent and improving. In maybe another 5 years, I could plausibly see choosing them over beef.

@sowth I had an Impossible Burger. It did not make me crave vegetables. It *did* demonstrate that if I became allergic to meat, then I could still have a reasonably decent hamburgerish thing without feeling disappointed. TBH, that was a huge milestone.

Jenkins: urgent security upgrade in the Foo module that literally every company 100% depends on!

Foo module: my config file format changed but I’ll automatically upgrade it for you. Uh, I’m not 100% backward compatible (see this bug report written in Linear A for details) so there’s a nonzero chance that I won’t start correctly afterwards and remember I’ll have already rewritten my own config into a format that prior versions can’t parse so go ahead and schedule a post-mortem just in case!

BTW, that Jenkins thing? Dead serious. That’s pretty much the definitive upgrade process. I wasn’t exaggerating.

Canonical Jenkins upgrade procedure:

- Stop the server.
- Tar up its whole directory Just In Case.
- Upgrade the server.
- Upgrade all the plugins, even ones saying they may asplode because what choice do you have really?
- Start the server.
- [solve the Halting Problem to determine whether everything still more or less works]
- If nothing breaks within the week, call it good.
- If something breaks after a week, blame it on a random developer. Face it, you’re not going to roll it back, are you?
