#AndStatus has started dropping notifications of replies, randomly. They simply do not appear in my Notifications list, and they don't generate a phone-level notification, either. Favorites are working, replies fail about 50% of the time. If it were 100%, I'd think maybe I did something wrong.

@ghost I use a firefox addon that nukes cookies when I leave a site (except whitelisted ones) so Medium and NYT always thinks I am a brand-new visitor.

@eribloodlust I am perpetually 2-4 days behind in my mastodon timeline, but if you still want somebody to look this over, I could. I'm a little over-specialized in Django these days. Years.

Nevermind "friends" - it often updates your status globally, so all users can see what you are doing and stalk you on other services.

By default, the #Discord desktop app scans your running processes, uploads that info to their servers, and often shares that info with your friends.

Much like #Facebook, they need a giant killswitch for all privacy options - "No, don't do anything but be an IRC clone."

#peertube usage notes:

- I tried six times to upload a 6.60 MB video before it succeeded. Can #webtorrent be used for uploads? Because HTTP uploads are pretty unreliable.
- I successfully uploaded an x265 video and then it failed to play. I had to fall back on the much-lower-quality x264 codec.
- Once uploaded, I can't change the channel the video belongs in, I had to upload it yet again.

Yesterday I finished automating a solar-powered rainwater drip irrigation system for the greenhouse. In retrospect, this could have been done cheaper and better, but it's still a pretty cheap insurance against my plant-killing loss of motivation.

I want to post a video of my greenhouse improvements, but it's unclear which #peertube instance I should call home and whether I can log into it via this mastodon account. I feel like this level of #UX polish is needed to make it easier to steal mindshare from Facebook and Youtube.

My last day at my current job is tomorrow.

My boss hadn't told anybody yet, because he was hoping I'd change my mind. I'm not clear how there was ambiguity; my resignation email was three short sentences. So now there's a mad rush to set up meetings so I can "brain dump" at people for the next day and a half.

This is an example of the non-stop crap planning that is one of many reasons I'm leaving...

What's a good application to get started customizing thingiverse models? I've very briefly used Blender, and Fusion 360 is out of my (new) price range. All I really want to do is download a bunch of STL files and make small edits and combine parts.

@meredith_matthews it is easy to think that when so many of them are terrible at managing anything. And a bad manager (of any type) has negative value and could be replaced with nobody and it'd be an improvement.

@starbreaker @Antanicus If you can live on less than a full-time salary, a part-time gig is so, so nice.

Sometimes, this is a win for the company, too. They got to bring me back in, I already knew the software quite well, but they couldn't afford another full-timer at that point anyway.
