TWF a #privacy advocate publishes an article about the perils of #OnlineTracking on a mainstream website with tons of tracking.

In this case, not even a mainstream journalism website; Cory Doctorow's opening paragraphs here: http://locusmag.com/2018/07/cory-doctorow-zucks-empire-of-oily-rags/

That's four different third-party companies that can track my reading of the article: Facebook, Google (thrice), Pinterest, and Wordpress (twice). And this is really tame compared to a newpaper...

@diddler yeah, I'm using Aurora now, too; Yalp's anonymous account stopped working. But it sounds like some apps deal with missing the GSF APIs gracefully. Which does lead to wondering why they use it in the first place...

I’m sick to death of people being precious about #GMO produce. Functionally there is no difference between a grape bred to have little or no seed and a grape that has been modified in a lab for the same thing. Y’all are just scared of science.

You wanna talk about #Monsanto charging for “licenses” for their crops, ok. Talk about agribusiness killing the planet, ok. Talk about corporations copyrighting genetic code, ok. These are all valid concerns.

    But the science is sound.

Seriously, wtf does "tc mirred to Houston" mean? A search for it yields only source code from the linux kernel. Would it have killed them to write something in English?

DHS is busting a protest in my town. Because protest is a threat to the security of the homeland.

I remember when liberals all got on board with President Bush to start all this stuff and socialists told the libs that they would inevitably turn these weapons of war against our own people and libs said no you’re just a dirty hippie and why do you hate America?

No more liberals. Socialism or bust.

I'm searching for an open-source #ebook reader app for #Android, to replace the Kindle app. I don't really care what formats it supports, so long as #Calibre can convert to them.

But I do want full screen, night mode, font size/color control, etc. Booky McBookface is off to a good start, but not there yet.

There doesn't appear to be much else on #FDroid?

No matter which social network you're on, following a diverse group of people helps you taking a peek at the other side of your personal filter bubble.

You don't have to agree with everything and everyone, but please, at least try to listen to people and their opinions.

It will help you appreciate your own life, and may just make you a little wiser.

I ended up installing #PassMan on #NextCloud. It works fairly well. The Firefox addon is a bit wonky, but being a bit wonky means it is less wonky than #LastPass. It generally works for my needs, though occasionally I find I have to refresh a page once or twice for it to find login forms.

@ghost this is so good. I've often let my imposter syndrome convince me I'm lazy, but then after a week or two of low productivity on a project I will realize there's a deeper cause. It is usually still a problem in executive function, but it's triggered or exacerbated by a different problem, like the project is poorly specced, misunderstood problem space, or just an outright bad idea...
