I'm busy trying to free up 100+ GB on my macBook Pro ... it's all Mail.app crapola from fifteen years of email. Mail.app is a storage hog. I've switched over to Airmail.app. Decent little application and lighter on the HD, too.

@chris Yes, that's what I was wondering: are you using moral relativism in a more casual way rather than its technical definition. You absolutely have a clear idea of what's good and evil. For you, it is evil to judge another and *anyone* who does that is sinning. (Forgive me for putting words in your mouth). That is a moral absolute for you. Hence, not relativistic. You may or may not hew to orthodox theology, but you're not a true postmodern relativist, IMO.

@chris No, I understand. I just am not interested in pissing back and forth, even in a friendly manor, on what is sin, who goes to heaven, and things like the nuances between demand and command. I was, however, very interested to understand your "extreme moral relativism", which you did explain.

@chris BTW, when I say, "against God" I'm only doing so to make the philosophical/metaphysical argument for evil and darkness. If there is light, its absence is darkness. If there is good, its absence is evil.

I'm not trying to talk about sin here. Just good and evil in the context of moral relativism.

Against God? I think He's pretty clear in scripture. Reject/hate His son.

There's a list of shit you and I would hopefully agree on.

Oppression

The list goes on and one. But, at its base, it starts and ends with Christ.

@chris I only have 500 characters at a time to work with, pallie. I was not excluding God's love. I just didn't have the space to list out all His attributes. Chris, I'm not trying to change your mind. I was just probing to better understand how you made dissonant ideas work together. Thanks for helping me understand your thinking. I don't agree with it, but that doesn't matter.

@chris You're conflating the issues with philosophy.

1. God is unchanging
2. God is good
3. God transcends all
4. Thus, there is absolute good in the universe, due to God's existence

(This is what informs your desire to love—admirable.)

5. Everything that is against Go and His goodness is evil. Thus, there is absolute evil, too.

The faith agrees, love thy enemy. But, it does not say, anything goes, create your own morality, etc. God is clear on what He desires for and from us.

@chris Okay. When I hear "moral relativism" I think of good and evil being relative, meaning there isn't any necessary evil or necessary good; that it's all in the eyes of the beholder. One man's good is another's evil.

I'm only bringing this up because I remember you saying you're a Christian and Christians can't both be in line with the faith and a moral relativist.

How does that square with your position? I'm guessing you're not a true moral relativist.
