I've noticed some of those payphone boxes with some loose wires hanging out. Still use a sidewalk mailbox, but, wouldn't know where a fire box is, but know they must be somewhere; I've heard old-fashioned box numbers being tapped out on a bell outside the firehouse. -

That would appear to be so! Having not used it in Windows, I'm relying on the word of others, here. The issue might be one of #GTK accessibility in Windows, in general; we just happened to be talking about Chirp. -

So happy that Chirp is #FreeSoftware and accessible! #hamradio I could program this UV5R without it, but this program makes working with my radio so easy. At my club meeting, I mentioned using Chirp and was told, "That's inaccessible"! Apparently, it is, when you use Windows and a screen reader. Only gripe: I cannot get a frequency or squelch tome readout spoken by the radio itself. When working in #VFO mode, it's not really a problem; I can enter freqs directly, but when channelized mode, I only know channel numbers and names. As long as I restrict transmission to the ham bands, I suppose I'm not likely to break any rules... -

I don't expect friendship, necessarily, but friendly interaction, if possible.
Sometimes the chats are light-hearted, though they occasionally are deeper. I don't have time for angry ones.

Uuuuh, ordered some Wood PLA filament this afternoon and it just arrived! (yes, this is a composite material that contains actual wood dust)
I guess you know what I'll be doing the next couple of hours 😉

Yes, I guess we should have cared about that boring productivity stuff when we could have had a greater impact. Sometimes, it gets lonely here in Libreworld. -

Had a lovely walk along the Charles river; took my Baofeng UV5R with me and tried using a couple of local repeaters. Next time, I'll use longer antenna, will just have to duck for tree branches. #hamradio #UHF #VHF afternoon #constitutional Ok, I'll stop now. -

This morning, I attended a meeting of a local #hamradio club, where the presenter showed the remote operation of his #HF rig called Flex Radio. Or, was that the name of the software used)? We triee 20 and 40-meter phone bands with no results. I think the noise floor was at s-8 or 9. We didn't work anyone. The concept is cool! I'd love to be able to work a #CW contest while stuck in traffic; Hahah, with my rig safe at home. The whole presentation was done using iThings and wifi in the meeting venue. -
