I remember one of my sisters getting a strip of tartan fabric. For a year or two, the Bay City Rollers were really big.

lnxw48a1> Historically, Parrot started out as the runtime for Perl 6. Unlike Perl 5, the Perl 6 compiler and runtime (VM) are to be much more clearly separated. The name Parrot was chosen after the 2001 April Fool's Joke which had Perl and Python collaborating on the next version of their languages. The name reflects the intention to build a VM to run not just Perl 6, but also many other languages.
It was my impression that Parrot was designed specifically for the needs and goals of the P6 project with other language support being secondary. As the project changed, I didn't think Parrot was able to support its direction.
But these are all views from the outside, not even following closely. I could be very wrong.
Isn't ParrotVM the project that originally hosted the "Perl6" implementation (now the Rakudo Star implementation of Raku) before they moved to MoarVM? If so, I haven't heard anything about it in years ... it may be dead.
#faveNephew is working on getting a state license for the next phase of his career, which may mean switching to a different agency within the county government. In the current agency, he's not getting enough applicable hours ( he's working up to 60 hours per week, but most of those hours are doing tasks which don't count toward the license ).
Meanwhile, his cousin ( formerly known as #lazyNephew ) was recently fired from his job. Also, his girlfriend broke up with him (but her mom and siblings like him, so he's still welcome to stay with them) and the apartment building has new management which is evicting everyone so they can renovate and raise the rates.
