    It's hard to overstate how fucking scummy the credit reporting world is. Equifax invented the business in 1899, when, as the Retail Credit Company, it used private spies to track queers, political dissidents and "race mixers" so that banks and merchants could discriminate against them:

    @fu Agree. With something like 8B people to feed, (even if we could wring out all the waste in the food distribution system,) rodents and insects can consume / destroy / contaminate enough to cause widespread starvation.

    S called me to tell me that a particular office is looking for help. It's an office I'd normally be happy to go to (they're pretty picky about who goes there), but right now isn't the time for me to be travelling out of state.

    Maybe Kenny will get the call. I'm pretty sure they won't call K.

    In other news, I need to pick a date, so I can start the notifications six months before end of employment. I'm not retiring ... I just need to work somewhere that better fits my needs.

    $EMPLOYER is "flexible" to the max, but that flexibility is only one direction: meeting their needs no matter how it affects the employee. Almost twenty years ago, I could afford to work like that. Now I cannot afford it.

    I don't know if it was remnants of #TropStorm Eugene, but we've had welcome cloud cover and occasionally small amounts of rain. The combination cooled things off a bit (at the expense of increased humidity).

    Thin lines of stormy weather are sliding across #SoCal today. We had a burst of high straight line winds and heavy rainfall that only lasted 3-5 minutes. Not enough to help with soil moisture or other drought related issues.

    In some areas such as #San_Bernardino County Morongo Valley, S of #SR-62, there are flash flood warnings as they got more rainfall.

    #T-Mobile Home Internet has been "limited connectivity" and "no Internet" all morning.

    They had a few weeks of very good connectivity. Now they're back to their usual.
