    1. China’s Stalling Economy Puts the World on Notice
      from Yahoo News
For more than a quarter-century, China has been synonymous with relentless development and upward mobility. As its 1.4 billion people gained an appetite for the wares of the world β€” Hollywood movies, South Korean electronics, iron ore mined in Australia β€” the global economy was propelled by a seemingly inexhaustible engine. Now that engine is sputtering, posing alarming risks for Chinese households and economies around the planet. Long the centerpiece of a profit-enhancing version of globalizati

Either the #ZeroHedge writer is completely ignorant about "off-label" prescriptions, or they're intentionally trying to stir up dung.

Once a medication is approved for human use, doctors can prescribe it for reasons other than the listed ones.

Eventually, I found that a dependency package had updated and since it was now outside the "compatible" range, Chocolatey decided it couldn't install, uninstall, update, or reinstall any other packages.

The fix was to use the "choco" commandline program, so I could see the exact text of error messages. Once I saw that, I manually uninstalled the dependency from the Windows Control Panel, then I could reinstall the package and the correct version of its dependency.

By that point, there were a dozen or so packages awaiting an upgrade, so I did that, restarted the laptop, and everything is working again.

This is something I never experienced in earlier versions of Chocolatey, so I assume there's a bug. It could be mitigated by not aborting operations if an unrelated package has a conflict (which I think was the behavior until recently).

Sam Bankman-Fried is heading back to jail after he was caught using a #VPN to conceal his online activities from law enforcement agencies assigned to monitor him ... and repeatedly trying to intimidate a witness.

I'm not going to look it up, but I seem to recall that shortly after he was released on bail, he boarded a plane and flew somewhere. Given the potential for a long sentence, inability or unwillingness to abide by location restrictions could be evidence that he may intend to escape before the trial. I'd have locked him up until the trial.
