Installing #debian on a laptop that needs non-free firmware for the wifi to work, is there anything more frustrating?
It's pretty bad if a Debian user of over 20 years still struggles with this process, find the firmware its right there dammit.

Thinking of updating my laptop. It needs to run Linux but doesn't need pre installed as I can reimage.
Basically use it for programming and 15 inch screen because I'm old.
Any suggestions? Lenovo E570 or Dell XPS 15 were two suggested.
GNU extensions aren't just dumb, they introduce a security vulnerabilities
On a POSIX system, this is totally safe:
grep -e foobar "$userdata" /path/to/file
Because the first non-option argument (foobar) disables further option processing in same way -- does. On GNU, if $userdata is "-f/etc/passwd", well, you've fucked up.

Is Dungeons & Dragons fun? I see & hear about it a lot, but I don't know if it's worth finding someone to play with.
@MutoShack it depends on the group. I found it was a framework to basically role play a character. The main thing is the group has to have the same flavour of play, so rules lawyers and metagamers don't work well with that group.
I haven't done it for years but it was great in the day.
@kaniini something to crow about

I have now use the #debian system package for libjs-underscore rather than the one shipped with #WordPress. For once, the Debian version is newer but linking it didn't seem to give any errors on a browser console. It also meant I had to update my #apparmor profile for wordpress.
sometimes i think about the D&D peasant railgun
WordPress version 5.2.3 is now out which is a security release. It fixes a bunch of XSS problems and some sanitization problems. Debian packages soon.

If a hose just keeps folding in one spot and you're always fighting with it, just buy a new hose.
One curious thing about snmpd is it binds the outbound UDP socket for it's trap sender.
That seems odd, an outbound socket appearing in your listening sockets (e.g. ss -unl ) until I remembered notifications.
These are snmp v3 "traps" but they're two way.
@Mainebot that's probably one of the less disturbing images of his
