@bes Weren't you at your own Friendica server as well?

besIt has been a tough decision, especially because I had many good discussions here. But I don't want to run my own server just for GNU Social any longer. The last few weeks I tried Mastodon to see if I want to join one of the existing GNU Social nodes or Mastodon. I decided to go with Mastodon. Digital social networks are just no longer as important to me as they where in the past. All important stuff I want to preserve will be published at schiessle.org and my blog. From next month on social networking will happen at https://mastodon.social/@bjoern and occasionally diasp.eu/u/bjoern. The next few weeks I will start following you from Mastodon and I hope most of you will follow me back. ;)
"when we consider the needs of the individual and of society, and the means which man has resorted to in order to satisfy them during his varied phases of development, we are convinced of the necessity of systematizing our efforts, instead of producing haphazard as we do nowadays. It grows evident that the appropriation by a few of all riches not consumed, and transmitted from one generation to another, is not in the general interest. We can state as a fact that owing to these methods the needs of three-quarters of society are not satisfied, and that the present waste of human strength is the more useless and the more criminal."
@cwebber Yes I think that's approximately how it will go. I expect things to be a mixture of people running their own peers, like FreedomBox/Bone or SSB or ZeroNet, and the more curated experience of being in a collective under an admin.
So far I don't think representative democracy has been a good model for multi-user instances, and so being able to easily move between instances - voting with your feet - seems more practical.
@askan There was a police case, can't remember which one, and during the investigation they found some pamphlets with quotes of Kropotkin or something like that.
@antanicus @zatnosk @grainloom I'm no expert on games and maybe people have already been doing this, but there is the opportunity to educate and perhaps agitate via depicting the history of labor struggles in the medium of games.
