@lnxw48a1 Strange inconsistencies don't sound too good, but that it is fairly easy to learn and come back to sounds promising. I've been told to stay away from 5, and move over to 7 though.
-
@thatbrickster @moonman @dude Tbh, I wouldn't actually be worried about that. It would suck to be cut off, but there isn't a lot I could do about that if they wanted to take things in that direction. A lot of this is wishful thinking on my part... I just really like qvitter.
-
@marmite Isn't Python the same language that pleroma uses? It does at least have what I'd need to learn it if I can find those. But again... I don't think it would help me with GS. So I am torn.
-
@marmite I think I'd worry if I could remember everything... aha. But I am sure that there is a part of my brain that this could appeal to if I can find a good language to learn, and find those libraries as you mention. I like solving little problems!
-
@dude @moonman @thatbrickster Ahh... okay. I'll try to keep that in mind!
-
@marmite Hmm... one thing that I have trouble trying to process right now is how anyone strings words together to make commands. I just don't feel creative enough to know what works there. At best, I can just be told what to type into my own terminal but that is already done for me.
-
@coldacid Knowing me, I'll probably get frustrated anyway. Lol. But it seems like GS uses PHP 5 so I would at least need to learn about it in order to parse what they are trying to do.
-
@lnxw48a1 @guizzy I guess I'll see how I feel in future. I'm still feeling raw from what happened before. It would definitely have to be its separate thing... it's wishful thinking at the moment anyhow. But I wouldn't mind helping moon with a qvitter alternative if I could even learn a language okay. I still have time on my side, and providing I don't get too frustrated over it... it could be a positive thing.
-
@marmite Oh no... I don't recall which language I was trying to learn before. Maybe javascript or a web language like it. I was just sizing this up for my own amusement and because it would greatly benefit me if I were somehow a genius programmer who could take over the dying project. xD I jest about the genius part. But I did wonder if my problem was putting myself down and if another language would better suit me. I'd be kicking myself if I didn't at least look into this.
-
@marmite Hmm. Well, I was just thinking about whether it might be something that I can learn okay... mostly given that I'm on a GS instance and prefer qvitter and it uses PHP. But I'm a complete novice... I'm not good at programming right now and I wondered if trying a different language might help me out. Like if I shouldn't completely discount myself because I couldn't get into one language.
-
@kaniini Haha... encouraging! :')
-
So... as a language, how friendly is PHP to novices? Specifically version 5 I would guess.
-
Don't ask me what a tarball is because I don't know. :')
-
@thatbrickster Well... at least I know this is the source code origin now. :')
-
@guizzy I'm peeping into it fully tonight. :')
-
@thatbrickster What does it even do? LOL. Also, there are at least three files that basically say apilist member/s/ships... : thinking :
-
Aww... my post really didn't paragraph well there even though I told it to behave. Spoilsport.
-
>Go to GS source code.
>Think 'Huh... is this the source code? I don't really understand it... but it doesn't look too bad. It's like my home folder.' >Click into 'actions' folder to get a better look. >Scroll down the list to find that it has a lot of files and don't where to begin. > O_O
-
I'm actually curious to see just how bad the GS source code is.
-
Who else am I missing out on?!
