Going forward I'm not going to be CWing frank discussion of my depression or anxiety (although I will try to CW negative self-talk, discussion of death, etc.).

No one is helped by hiding that stuff away; it just plays into the societal stigma against mental illness and its sufferers, and for too long Polite Society has told us "oh, we just don't /talk/ about that" to try to sweep us under the rug.

There is no shame in mental illness and there should be no proscription against discussing it.

One of my favorite idioms is Polish, and basically means "this is none of my business, so I'm staying out of it": "nie mój cyrk, nie moje małpy", translated as "not my circus, not my monkeys".

Posted this privately but I think it's worth noting in public: as with "Nazi", I don't use the word "authoritarian" to describe anyone I don't like. It's a specific pattern of behavior:

Authoritarians want to be the ones to set the rules for Correct Behavior, and to unilaterally eject anyone who doesn't follow them. Without real power this just means purity checks: "are you As Woke As Me, or are you a fascist?" In an actual position of authority this results in secret police and gulags.
