@btcprox I always find examples of spirals, fractals &c. kind of cringe-worth when talking about the beauty of maths. Sure those things are *pretty* but they're not what I mean when I talk about mathematical beauty and their use for that always seems to be a marker of amateurism, it's a bit fannish

@christianp also, if we think about group actions then we often write g.x or g x (not g(x)) for a group element acting on x \in X, so the operator g : X —> X is denoted this way
