So uh, Lerna, an open source project, just walled off and revoked access to a bunch of companies that deal with ICE and CBP.

I know folks personally at a few of these companies that say, "We use this." One company has monetized work around the project!

So a lot of folks have been asking me about the social issues w/ Gitlab.

GitLab has a complicated history here, but during the gamergate heydey they hosted a lot of GG's content. They subsequently kicked out the main GG repositories *after* public outcry and organized efforts, but originally made no efforts to.

And while it's been largely deleted, quietly some GL engineers were telling people to move over to "flee sjw censorship."

Sadly much of this data is buried now. Feel free to ignore me.

@ajroach42 Not sure if you're aware but there is a whole HAM hardware radio with high latency projct. FaradayRF. They're implementing parts of your idea. Might be a cool starting point if you have't seen them before?

It's interesting how for Koreans, that single simple map flag must represent something so intense and so important.

Imagine: kids with long range ham networking, kids of electrical motors, metal-foil books with concrete instructions on how to synthesize charcoal efficiently, how to refine common metals (in particular lead and tin) safely, how to synthesize paper and ink in a variety of climates, etc.

The idea is to be able to recover a 1980-1990s level of tech within 10 years, w/ a sustainability focus.

I wonder if I could make an investment group dedicated to developing and creating kits for the preservation of digital society in the event of systemic collapse.

My daughter doesn't understand commercials at all. I make sure to get 0 ad versions of every service she wants to watch.

But I do wonder in what environment she'll build up her resistance to ads. Kids from my generation tended to acquire a resistance by their teens because we were hyper-saturated with highly manipulative ads.
