seems like a thing that would come about pretty naturally. we have all this oral-fixation-y stuff, lollipops and cigarettes and whatever, deeply-engrained left-over urging from being tiny children. so it's natural to, when intimate with a person, get those weird impulses to start sucking on fingers and nipples and that bit of neck just behind the clavicle...
