I like this book right now, The History of the World, by Oxford University Press. You do have to wear different sunglasses/lenses to read it though, as the original edition was written in the 70's and has a bit of a masculine tone, but it has been revised in the essential 6th edition. I like it for an overview however. I think that being able to read books like this with sunglasses on, yet still finding value in the readings, is a nice skill to have.

Sorry about my constant stream of thoughts yesterday. I was just in my head with a lot of ideas floating around. I will try to complete my thoughts more before posting next time.

@ravenousbadger There is a point to this. We need to avoid sloppy thinking and posting as well. This is another aspect that I like about old-school publishing. The quality of thought was much higher and more well informed. Yes, you do have a good point here. I will truly consider it.

Note: My ramblings may or may not be my final thinking on things; it's, rather, natural thought. So it's a bit imperfect, which I do like often. I think that some of the most non-trendy thinking happens this way. It gets you out of the current political trend sometimes to view things in a more natural way.

Ok, my mind ramblings are done for this evening I think. Just what I've been thinking about while walking out and about today after class.

I have extra sharp opinions on things like academia and societal politics, and I continually attempt to question, seek outside perspectives and knowledge, and refine my thoughts on matters. This is one process of philosophy, and I've found the greatest people at this have been people I've met on the street. What is a university program without these kinds of perspectives? Not just interviewing, and looking at this as a different culture, but seriously... We have a cathedral style of university.

Sometimes I feel that I learned quite a lot from when I was homeless. Some of my best professors were the people I met while on the street.

I want to bring back the semicolon ; into everyday speech and writing.

I'm also fascinated with the history of prostitution lately; although, is this term not preferred anymore? I just prefer the term prostitution because the word sounds fancy and pretty to me. I also agree with Orwell's politics of English for the most part. I love this.

I also hope to get it together for a dear friend of mine. Gosh, I would steal her as my girlfriend if I could, but I miss her quite a lot. She's pretty classy.

Another idea for a penny essay, the philosophy of Thelonious Sphere Monk, and how it applies to modern social thought. I have wanted to approach this for a while. It would likely be a series of penny writings.

I people watch. I love it. It's fascinating to me. I love watching people at the university. You can learn quite a lot about life doing this.

I think that I might start writing penny essays; I'm way out of practice with academic writing. A penny essay is a mini essay on a topic, similar to a bebop tune or something. It really gets into a collection of topics once you collect them together.
