US peeps: there's a senate vote this week to restore Title II net neutrality protections via the congressional review act (CRA). If one more senator comes out in support, we can keep the free and open internet we've fought hard for.
@satchmoz Sorry, I want to sheepishly point out I use "GPG" the same way I use "Linux", so I am not going for precision, at the moment. GPG = all the PGP crypto stuff. ^_^
@satchmoz Re: confidence, I am not sure there is much confidence in GPG as a daily tool. The math is sound, but every where I turn there are two camps:
1. GPG is too hard 2. This thing (ProtonMail, plugin, whatevs) makes it so users don't understand what is happening
A couple of decades usage, and I am not that confident myself. ^_^
@satchmoz I get that feeling too, but it smells like a feeling to me. Maybe most GPG users use a handful of email clients that are vulnerable. And are we really sure turning to plaintext will fix the clients?
I am not the EFF, just a random person wondering aloud, but I also have doubts that is good enough. So I don't know, I guess I am not as confident as you are in GPG plugins. ^_^
@satchmoz Nah, I think it was okay. Consider the audience. We aren't worried about most GPG users being hacked this way, but the ones we *are* worried about, they need to shut that down. Me thinks. ^_^
@tomasino Hey, do a quick data download about the game (platforms, license, cost, release, etc.). That way I don't have to leave #tootstream or load KS's site! ^_^
I had a good bad-experience recently, so it is allowing me to see the web for what I care about, and I have zero fucks in my sideboard, so there we are. ^_^
I also think we are going to build a new web browser, with a variable value for "new".
Hey #WordPress users, I am a person trying to harm none and survive with my family in capitalism. I know a lot about WordPress, particularly enterprise solutions.
But what I want to do is help individuals. So I need to do some market research. How much would you pay for:
1 Un-hacking a site 2 Month or year of hosting 3 An hour of phone support 4 Manage yer domains/DNS 5 Email support
One pro for doing it: I get to set it up correctly. Learning SquareSpace isn't what I'd call fun, but it will give me the knowledge and vocabulary to speak to current users, as I can with Shopify and Wix users. Also, I've read over and over that SqaSpa is one of the main competitors to #WordPress.
But gah, learning it to set it up, rather than shutting it down?! BHULaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.
* I like this client a lot * This client is very influential in their field, where I'd like to work more * No level of hissy fit is going to change their collective minds
Is that why I am ambivalent here? Could I be less paladin and more rogue when it comes to FLOSS support?
@gemlog@amylsacks Haha, that totally describes me! I mean, I hope I learn the value of things, and have been steadily for a couple of decades, but I still feel like I know the cost of everything, and the value of very little. My plan for the last year has been to ignore costs unless I can't, and only focus on value. Ends up with me hanging with my family whenever I can. ^_^
Hi all! As we're about to finalize our code of conduct development phase, we'd much appreciate it if you could share examples of CoC documents you particularly like with us. Just reply to this toot!
I requested my data from Twitter today.. and I was shocked to see that they know every app I have ever installed on my phones (using this to show relevant ads) AND a bunch of different advertising companies have me as a tailored audience..which included Candy Crush and McDonald's. What?! #privacy#tech#advertising#data
