It's an Orange Pi 2e based 🍭 ☁ with GPS, RTC, USB 3G modem and a few antennas in a Tactical Tailor Multi Purpose pouch with Anker 10,000 mAh battery pack for power.
This unit will be traveling a bit for more testing and fine tuning of our underlying Armbian configuration and more. 😁
I don't disagree with anything you've said, but not sure how to get it to resonate with people. Mostly I get blank stares and discussions of other corporate controlled platforms. I'm not sure people have a true frame of reference to understand the issues and the alternatives.
Random on my music player is really rocking this morning.
Which always reminds me of when people say "this music service makes good choices for me." Random makes pretty good choices too. You're a machine designed to find patterns, you'll find them whether they're intentional or not.
@snwh I like that on Twitter as well. What's surprised me is that with all the frontends for Mastodon I haven't found a single one that implemented it.
It is an unpopular opinion, but I really do enjoy SQL sometimes. The ability to say "this is exactly what I want, you figure out how to get it really quickly" is pretty awesome.
Probably I just really like databases and SQL is the gateway to that magic.
I still see the occasional person on Twitter say that Mastodon will never "succeed", but I wouldn't call what Twitter has "success". Mastodon is good ol' community building.
We don't want to be exhausted by brands and promotion, nor have the platform continue to be unethically designed and lack any backbone for moderation. Federation spreads out the moderation task and the lack of brands and promotional nonsense is good. We can just follow and talk with others which is all people really need.
@rysiek it seems like the real problem with any serverless solution will always be push messaging. What are you thinking there? It seems like the only way to avoid that is to allow configuring the server to something you trust (i.e. not centralized and owned by the messaging network).
