Finally got some integration tests that allocate cloud machines and install then test software on them. All in multiple clouds. Happy to have that level of testing working in our product.

What I've learned is that the tools for every vendor are bad, unreliable and sometimes even racy between multiple calls. I started the project so naive, and now the scripts are downright paranoid, but they work.

@Are0h I hope you're right. I worry that people are too used to venture and advertising based "free" services and are unwilling to admit these things cost money.

Palmer Luckey justifying moving to defense contracting and trying to still have employees. The problem with his argument is that the US use of force lately hasn't been magnanimous and currently our president is trying to befriend dictators. These things matter, and people should choose to work for good, what they're voicing is a vote on the choices of the politicians in charge. — https://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/commentary/2018/08/10/us-tech-industry-must-stand-military

@ChameleonScales no, more that I do use my phone in ways that stress it computationally. Certainly I could choose to not do those things. That's a choice that I make.

Quite simply, I'd like my cake and to eat it too. I'd like to be able to choose to pay more for a device that was ethically sourced instead of choosing to not use my phone the way I enjoy using it to support ethical supply chains.

@popey I'd buy a robot that did that. Or even a service, if I could take my Lego to a store and they'd sort it into little baggies.

@n8 @kenvandine I've had it with a bunch of snaps as well. I think it is deleting the desktop files and then creating new ones. If Unity sees the delete it removes the item. Snapd needs to overwrite instead of delete. I think it is a race.

@n8 nope, they can't really. They're basically restricted to particular filesystems. The real fix is to use the portals for the UI choosers. I know there was work on that, probably best to ask @kenvandine there.

Rebuilt the Inkscape stable snap to grab some security updates to dependent packages. Don't expect issues bug gonna test for today and then push to stable tonight. If you want to try it out and make sure it works for you:

$ sudo snap refresh --candidate inkscape

Tell me if you see something that broke!

@ChameleonScales we clearly have different use-cases for how we use our phones.

What bugs me is that there's no reason there can't be a modular and fair trade phone that takes into account both of our use-cases. I think that'd be a good thing. I'd like to be able to buy something where the entire supply chain is considered and is repairable and upgradable.

@ChameleonScales I like the ideas, but for being a modular smartphone it is odd they still don't have a module for US cellular frequencies.

I've also been slightly disappointed that they've not come out with newer modules on a regular pace. I'd like more flash/ram/etc. but there aren't modules available.
