@quimgil definately. And I think that is a good reason for countries to want their social networks to be local. It wouldn't stop it, but would at least give them some ability to notice it.

I imagine if they didn't have them already the issues with the Russians in the 2016 elections have motivated the CIA to build up a similar capacity.

One of the arguments for decentralized federated social networking should be that these efforts get reported on because Facebook is a US company and the actions are to effect US politics. If the CIA is trying to effect other country's elections using Facebook do you think it would be announced? — https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/31/us/politics/facebook-political-campaign-midterms.html?partner=rss&emc=rss

@chuck been thinking about that with my RAW photos. Might need to convert them to DNG just to make them openable in the future.

Thought, open formats get dropped as well. Just because I *can* go and build a plugin to read the file doesn't mean I *will*.

Hate to continually use CI to test fixes to this integration test, but since it requires network resources it actually runs much faster on the cloud than in my house.

What makes this mind-blowingly stupid is that it favors old wealth over new wealth as well. So besides only helping the wealthy, it is really only helping the wealthy that aren't taking significant risks and seeing high growth rates. — https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/30/us/politics/trump-tax-cuts-rich.html?partner=rss&emc=rss

@n8 for me it comes down to that at one point I thought he was apolitical, just searching for the truth. Then it became more and more clear that he's just a dude with an political agenda.

I like to think that he changed, but it probably was more me being naive.
