Not saying you should, but if you wanted to, there is apparently now a book on it.

Whew, grand raffle to finish off The Texas Linux Fest 2018. And then a good BOF to discuss ideas for TXLF 2019.
Looks like we'll be heading to Dallas! Hoping to show up Austin a bit in hospitality and having a great tech community.

@HerraBRE you should totally kick those lazy people out of your community 😉

@freakazoid I get your point, but I can't imagine hosting costs them much compared to development of the service overall. Probably will be a while.
Also the CI/CD services for OSS are donations by Digital Ocean I believe.

@HerraBRE I would say that while network effects to play a factor, probably most of your community didn't find you on Github (it is nearly impossible to find stuff there). They found you through other means and then went to your Github page.
Now that doesn't say you should go to the effort of moving. But don't be scared of it.
Your community is people who care about your project, not about Github.

Haha, Linus Fest. Thought about deleting, but it is a funny autocomplete bug considering the history of the name.

@n8 if I was a Fedora user I'd be more up-in-arms about they promoting adding additional rpm repos. That's a security nightmare.
PPAs caused a huge boon in people making packages for Ubuntu, but they are a security misfeature. Killing them is by far the best Snap feature.

@infosechandbook would be neat to have a few of these on the Internet so traffic could be distributed between them.

@scott @freakazoid besides what people have done, I'd love to hear ideas of what people thought could be done.
I think there is a huge opportunity to increase voter participation if done right.

@freakazoid @scott for that reason I think it my be hard to integrate no shows and people who are not registered. I think there is a big difference between people who have never engaged with the system and those who bothered to show up but were dissatisfied with the choices.

@freakazoid I'm not sure how the media gets their information on the election. But it seems that they'd get votes for each candidate and number of people voting.
So then it is really just a visualization problem. Instead of presenting the vote as A vs. B, it could be shown as A, B or none-of-the-above.
Wondering if perhaps @scott has worked with this data and knows what is available.

@freakazoid I'd love to know from someone who lives in Ireland if that is true. But it's a good story about out-of-bounds input either way.

@freakazoid I heard a story that in Ireland there is a tradition that people will spoil their ballot to show discontent. The number of spoiled ballots is then reported on the news. So there'll be people who vote and purposely spoil their ballots.
The story goes on that when they introduced digital voting they made it so that everyone could have a correct ballot, upsetting a certain class of voters. They then had to introduce a "spoil" button.
