    For those of you interested in my birb posting, this lil guy is the Resplendent Quetzal, an important symbol in many South American cultures throughout history. Their feathers were thought to be the symbols of the Aztecs' gods, and they were highly revered birds.

    They don't do well in captivity, and honestly after seeing photos of them in flight, it makes it so easy to imagine why so many cultures believes in flying feathered serpents.

    Being a US citizen in 2019 feels like you are playing a game against a spoiled child (1% boomers) that is completely unbalanced and even though you are losing horribly because the child is exploiting the shitty game mechanics the child keeps throwing tantrums and screaming that the rules be changed so he can beat you by an even larger margin.

    so since the "anti-trafficking" law was passed:

    * backpages has been taken down
    * tumblr has become a shell of its former self
    * craigslist personals no longer exist

    but

    * trafficking has increased
    * prosecutions of trafficking have dramatically decreased and the Trump administration has even proposed to cut the budget for them by 80%

    almost like it was never about trafficking at all, just about attacking queer people and sex workers

    Its 2019 and people sit on couches poking across onscreen keyboards with tv remotes. Are smart tv search interfaces purposefully horrible so that you get frustrated and just watch whatever is spoonfed to you?

    Or tv companies just so bad at user interface design that this was the best they could come up with?
