@mgrondin at least in that case I can probably determine if the user actually sent the message and if the remote end accepted it.

In the other direction, I can't even tell if they're even telling the truth about having sent it ... But nobody would ever lie about a thing like that, right? :awesome:

Oh, if I only had a dollar for every time I've had to explain why I can't easily or definitively answer 'They said they sent me an email, why didn't I get it?'

@Gargron I remember the first time I got glasses, I was walking through the city saying things like "Wow, that building is made of bricks ALL THE WAY UP!"

@GwenfarsGarden yeah I know I shouldn't have tried to get another crop from it this year but I love nectarines so much and the quality of the ones from that tree have been excellent. Also the winds today were pretty abnormally extreme ... Ah well.

@GwenfarsGarden there's a good strong offshoot from down the bottom below the damage. I intended to cut it right back to just leave that to become the main trunk - but I was going to wait until after the fruit was ripe. So much for that plan!

I didn't realise quite how bad the rot was down there though or I'd have done it months ago. Oh well.

I think the tree will recover but it might be a couple of years before I get fruit again.

I did too many computer today. Now watch TV. No more computer.

@yarmo everything will be so much better once you have AVG installed so it can pop up every 5 minutes and tell you about another AVG program that you don't have yet and is quite reasonably priced.

@hugh and funnily enough I've spent most of the day replacing a major piece of Python in my life with something a lot simpler heh.

@hugh oh god I've never gone into any of the packaging stuff, yeah - it's always looked way too intimidating!

@hugh Dunno if it still exists in a modern form but back in the day "Dive Into Python" was the best and most comprehensive getting started guide. Got me to the point where all I really needed was function references pretty easily.
