@lnxw48a1 floors can suck a lot of heat out of a room, it's a pretty essential insulation layer in a lot of circumstances.
I wrote some scripts to very carefully, with lots of checks, sort and archive some 500,000 files occupying 2.8TB that someone has left in a single folder on a server.
Turns out it's going to take weeks to run, so I guess I'm gonna have to get a little reckless.
If you or (someone you know) do any kind of video game journalism and you'd like an early code for my game let me know. Launch is soon. No one is too small to help! 💖
Boosts appreciated.
@carbontwelve I find right now with my C64 revisiting that I'm so close to fully understanding an entire 8-bit computer for the first time ever in my life, and I feel like the inevitable next step is to build a computer from scratch. Seeing things like that really tugs at me hard, heh.
I need to stop looking at eBay before bed.
They're asking waaay too much for this, given the unknown condition, but this is the kind of thing I dream of finding at a garage sale or something. Fixing and cleaning all that would keep me happy for ages heh.

Saw this and oh the gears in my head really started turning.

No Mike, no! One project at a time!
@PaulfromOz I think I'm mostly demoralised they we've even got to this point. No matter who else, we have fucking Scott Morrison, Pauline Hanson, Fraser Anning etc as people we have to deal with right now. Even if we start climbing back up out of this pit tomorrow, it's going to be a long time before we actually get somewhere good.
And I'm tired. So tired of caring. I have no enthusiasm to redeem this country.
Gosh I think I had feelings there. 😁
@thinkMoult I loved that mouse. Owned so many of them over the years.
Gizmodo has an article about how the Microsoft Optical Intellimouse series helped change the way we use mouses (from ball mice). https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2019/04/20-years-ago-microsoft-changed-how-we-mouse-forever/
I own one of these mice, and in fact I have released it as a free, #opensource #3d model here!

It is photometrically accurate, so its materials and textures have been carefully measured and calibrated.
@TechnicalKO everything runs Doom!
That said though, I'm kinda torn between locking it down to just be a C64 of some kind and setting some way to just boot right into Retropie as well.
Probably the latter eventually but I need to style it a lot more like a SX64 first. Definitely won't be an accurate scale model or anything, I'm not that obsessive.
Finally got my little screen and some time to play. My #SXmini is alive ... albeit loosely mounted in the case.
Need to get the Dremel out and make some holes now!
I would please like to not ever go back to work 🙂
@PaulfromOz honestly it's all too depressing. There's hardly anyone in politics in general I think I actually find admirable, at best they're "OK".
If the LNP somehow returns to government I'll give serious thought to just leaving the country. I'm not much of a fan right now.
@pelagikat yes please
Oh good at least they know about it.
"Hi Mike, welcome back to The Real World. Your first challenge for today is that your house's water supply is not working.
OK GO!"
@shlee It's getting good for sure. The plant based mince that they have at Woollies isn't bad - I made a spag bol with it and it was pretty much spot on. Only complaint is the price there. I pick it up when I see it reduced or on sale, but at full price I'll skip it.
KFC is my 3am junk food craving though, and I would like science to remove some of my guilt from that heh.
I don't want to go to bed because when I wake up my month of living in comfortable places and doing work I don't hate is officially over.
my idea: like Fantales, except instead of the lives of movie stars you get examples of command-line options for ffmpeg.
